Bighorn River Treasure
Bighorn River Treasure
During the Battle of Little Bighorn, General Custer was
defeated, and steam boat captain, Grant Marsh, steadily headed West to
the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers in order to bring the men supplies
and aid. He ended up gathering as many wounded he could. In the
meantime, he needed to release some cargo in order to maintain the
ship's weight. According to legend, Marsh buried around $375, 000 in
gold along the shore of Bighorn River. The gold has never been publicly
recovered, but there are more stories of where it was buried and also
possibly discovered.
