'Highly unlikely' that Brad Pitt will be prosecuted for jet incident

Some good news during a rough week for Brad Pitt -- it's "highly unlikely" he will be prosecuted for the private plane incident, per TMZ.
As previously reported earlier this week, Brad was under investigation regarding allegations stemming from an event on a private jet just days before Angelina Jolie filed for divorce. Reports via both People and TMZ circulated that the movie star was "verbally abusive" and "physical" with one of his children during the Sept. 14 incident.
TMZ provided more details, with insiders claiming that the confrontation occurred between Brad and 15-year-old Maddox on a flight from Nice, France to Burbank, California. The reason for the dispute is still unknown, but footage from when the family's jet stopped to refuel at an airport in Minnesota has reportedly surfaced showing Brad "yelling a lot during it, but nothing physical," a witness told US Weekly.
Since the alleged events took place prior to their stop to refuel and during a flight 30,000 feet above land, the FBI has jurisdiction. TMZ noted that the Department of Children and Family Services was also involved, and that DCFS social workers reported no injuries on the eldest of Brad and Angelina's brood.
On Sept. 24 TMZ's sources shared that it's very unlikely that the superstar will actually be prosecuted, which may be the best news Brad Pitt has received this week.
US Weekly's insiders claim that Brad is still having a hard time coming to terms with the split, and has been devastated in the wake of the filing. The outlet's sources shared, "He is beside himself and has been crying. He was completely caught off guard and blindsided and had no idea she would do this."
These same sources gave a little more insight into the superstar couple's marriage, noting that though Angelina "had threatened divorce in the past," Brad didn't think she would actually go through with it.
"He is completely devastated and beside himself. He is a shattered man," US Weekly's insiders added.
And though Brad may be in the clear with the FBI's investigation, the Los Angeles County Department of Children's Services is still on the case. DCFS will likely continue to look into the case, including delving into the family's overall living situation.
Wonderwall.com will have updates as the story progresses.
A look back at the biggest celeb news of the week:
It was the news that shook pop culture: Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are divorcing. Say it ain't so! After more than two years of marriage and 12 years together, Angie filed for divorce from Brad. Why? There are many stories, including reports that she was unhappy with how he parents their six children. The most damning report, though, is one that involves alleged child abuse. Brad is accused of being verbally and physically abusive with Maddox on an airplane. The FBI confirmed that it is investigating the incident. Brad contends that he did not strike the child, but his camp does acknowledge that midair fight got "out of hand," according to People. There were also stories claiming Angie was dismayed by Brad's use of marijuana (something he's been open about in the past) and alcohol. "I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids," Brad said in a statement hours after the news broke on Sept. 20 (she filed one day before). "I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time." Angie is asking for sole custody of the children, but Brad is prepared to fight that request. He wants joint custody.
