Ideal sleeping time is 7 to 9 hours which varies with different people depending on their lifestyle. Make habit of sleeping for sufficient time so that you may see some changes regarding dark circles. Drugs and alcohol are also causes for the dark circles as they affect the quality of sleep. Consuming these products in limitation may yield better results.

Inadequate antioxidants or lack of vitamins like Vitamin K, Vitamin B12 mainly causes dark circles. Vitamin deficiency is caused due to improper diet. Diet should be balanced to get rid of dark circles; you should have plenty of water and take foods that are rich in vitamins. Fruits, green leafy vegetables especially cabbage and spinach are to be taken. Vitamin supplement is to be taken if necessary. Adequate fluids are to be consumed to maintain the circulation. Home Remedies to Get Rid of Dark Circles Under Your Eyes

Tomato paste

The most effective remedy for the dark circles is tomato paste which can be easily prepared at home. Applying a thick paste of fresh tomatoes, lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric powder and gram flour very gently under your eyes where you find dark circles, wait for 10 or 20 minutes and clean it off gently. This process is to be followed 2 or 3 times a week to yield best results in removing dark circles.

Cucumber and Potato

In order to prevent the occurrence of dark circles around your eyes, slices of cucumber or potato are used to cover your eyelids for 15-20 minutes. Later on eyes should be washed with warm water. You can also use fresh juices of potato or cucumber applying them around your eyes with a cotton ball.

Almond oil

Almond is an excellent skin food. Applying a little almond oil around the eyes where there are dark circles and leaving it for overnight benefits the skin naturally. Making it a habit for one month makes your dark circles disappear.

Crushed mint leaves

Freshly crushed mint l leaves when applied around your eyes gives a soothing experience and also removes dark circles. These crushed mint leaves are applied and are left for 5-10 minutes and rinsed off gently with a cold cloth so that you can feel relaxed reduces dark circles.

Orange juice and glycerin

One of the effective ways to get rid of dark circles is applying orange juice that is mixed with glycerin. This process not only helps in removing dark circles but also provides glow to the overall skin and makes the skin softer and smoother.

Cool tea bags

Tea contains tannin which reduces the swelling in the skin and discoloration. Tea bags are refrigerated overnight and are used early in the morning by placing them on the eyes for 10-15 minutes which helps in reducing dark circles. Cool tea bags or ice cubes wrapped in soft cloth can be p[laced on your eyes in order to stay away from dark circles.

Make a saline solution:


Nasal congestion is also responsible for the cause of dark circles. This can be overcome by adding 2 cups of water with quarter tea spoon of sea salt or a half tea spoon of baking soda and pour in one nostril tilt your head to one side so that the solution comes out from other nostril. This gives relief for them who are suffering from nasal congestion.
